The Masters of Tango
Juan D'Arienzo, conductorOrquesta Típica Juan D'Arienzo
The barely suggested melody elegantly wormed its way into the heart of the ever-heady beat. Outnumbering the four violins, six bandoneons played at the forefront of the stage. As leader of this ensemble, D'Arienzo was breathing new life into the tango and encouraging other orchestras to start using arrangements with a stronger beat as well as faster tempi. 'El Rey del Compas' had just opened the door wide to the Golden Age of Tango.
