Chamber music from the pen of Max Bruch (1838-1920) was written mainly at the beginning and end of his long compositional career. With one exception, it is overshadowed today by his omnipresent first violin concerto. Here, the British Nash Ensemble offers us a worthwhile insight into a hitherto extremely neglected oeuvre on the basis of large and small forms.
