Renée Fleming presents her new album, Voice Of Nature: The Anthropocene, on Decca Classics. The "Anthropocene" is the name given to our current geological epoch, the "Age of Man." Accompanied by Yannick Nézet-Séguin on piano, Fleming explores the Romantic composers' relationship with nature through song. The repertoire includes works by Fauré and Grieg, as well as newly commissioned works by contemporary composers such as Nico Muhly and Pulitzer Prize winners Kevin Putts and Caroline Shaw."The music on this album begins in a time almost two centuries ago when humans had a deep connection to the beauty of nature. Now we've reached a point where we see all too clearly the impact of our own actions and the fragility of our environment."- Renée Fleming"With Voice Of Nature, Fleming has taken the opportunity in the forced pause of a pandemic to look around and explore how art can address some of our common challenges. She has combined her deep love of art song with an urgent impulse to pay attention to the science heed that warns us about the climate crisis."Charles Isherwood
