The Accademia Arcadia in Rome flourished at the time when Andrea Stefano Fiorè, one of Italy's true prodigies, was there. The great variety of stylistic influences and the outstanding quality of his cantatas, which range from lyrical simplicity to daring harmonic experiments, testify to Fiorè's unique poetic talent. Giovanni Antonio Giay succeeded Fiorè at the royal court in Turin, and these world premiere recordings together reveal a musical treasure of great value, sublimely documenting the extraordinary musical sensibility of these rarely heard composers.
