On September 14, 2023, Lise Davidsen was one of the youngest singers ever to be invited to a solo recital at the MET, a house with which she has a very special relationship: "I consider the Met my second home," she says, "but that doesn't mean you get invited to something as special as this recital, so I was very touched when Peter asked me." - (Lise Davidsen)
The Norwegian soprano has a particularly close relationship with the Metropolitan Opera, where she made her debut in 2019, appearing as the heroines of Tchaikovsky, Wagner, Strauss, Verdi, Puccini and Beethoven. In each of her roles at the Met, she has set new standards with her breathtaking, full-bodied voice. (Roger Pines, from the accompanying booklet)
Together with pianist James Baillieu, Lise performed a program of highlights from her roles at the Met as well as a selection of songs and some lighter pieces from the world of operetta and musical theater.
