The Royal Swedish Navy Band, Alexander Hanson
The German composer Carl Teike came into contact with military music at a young age, but with his modest temperament he never reached a high rank during his time in the army. He resigned from his post after his bandmaster asked him to burn Alte Kameraden, a piece that was to become one of the most popular marches in the world. Teike's marches are wholly original and greatly enrich the German concert repertoire with their inventiveness, musical charisma and colorful orchestration. The present program contains his first march, the Prince Albrecht March, which he dedicated to the Prussian monarch, who "graciously accepted" the dedication.
