This release comprises three sets of poems by the Dutch poet/composer Jacob Cats (1577-1660), Mourning Maidens, Love Songs and Religious Songs. Cats is one of the great Dutch literary figures and even today most households will have at least two books in the house: a bible and a copy of Cat’s poems. At times romantic and at times a little ‘earthier’ these are delightful songs given a fresh breath of life by Camerata Trajectina.
