Ola Gjeilo’s first piano album was Stone Rose, which was all pre-composed, his sequel however was always planned to be totally spontaneous. A number of the tracks were completely free improvisations recorded in one take! Bach Fantasy was also an improvisation, but of course does have an obvious link to a well known Bach piece. The first three tracks are improvisations on three choral works, the originals of which appear on a release Northern Lights (Chandos Records).
