With "Tingel Tangel", "Merry Go Round", "Sur le fil" and "Ligne de fissure", the French-Greek composer Georges Aperghis once again demonstrates his masterful talent for playing with identity, emotion and abstraction. Between motoric dance, mechanical disturbance and poetic fragility, a music unfolds that challenges both physically and intellectually. The accordion and - less frequently in Aperghis' works - the cimbalom are at the center of the music. Both instruments create a connection to imaginary folkloristic soundscapes that are reminiscent of Bartók but cannot be pinpointed.
