Violinist Alexandra Tirsu presents her debut album with concertos by Dmitri Shostakovich and Paul Hindemith. Shostakovich's music has accompanied her since her childhood - its atmosphere reflects the war stories she grew up with. The Violin Concerto No. 1 unfolds like a psychological journey: from a sombre opening to a wild scherzo, an emotionally charged passacaglia and a finale characterized by biting irony. Hindemith's rarely played violin concerto, which Alexandra performed for the first time at the ARD Competition in Munich, reveals a completely different tonal language: clear, structured and quietly expressive.
Recorded together with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Vasily Petrenko, this album captures a moment of deep engagement, personal identity and emotional connection - through two expressive works of the 20th century.
