Josquin Baston most likely belonged to the fourth generation of Flemish polyphonists and is one of the many enigmatic figures of 16th century music history. It is not known when or where he was born or died, and there is great uncertainty even about his first name. This CD of chansons and motets by Josquin Baston with the excellent ensemble Ratas del viejo mundo explores the fascinating world of Flemish style in the mid-16th century through the work of a very important but largely forgotten composer.
