Recorded live at Tsubo, a café in Berkeley, California, on June 25, 1962, "Full House" features legendary guitarist Wes Montgomery at the height of his creativity, accompanied by an impressive ensemble featuring tenor saxophonist Johnny Griffin and the Wynton Kelly Trio, which had matured through its collaboration with Miles Davis - pianist Wynton Kelly, double bassist Paul Chambers and drummer Jimmy Cobb.
All About Jazz later described the album as "a foretaste of what was to come and be lost far too soon", and the performance lives up to this promise. In terms of scope, there's something for everyone on "Full House". Montgomery's lyrical restraint comes to the fore in "I've Grown Accustomed to Her Face", while the infectious bebop of "Blue 'N' Boogie" and the Latin-tinged groove of "Cariba" reveal the full range of the group's dynamic interplay. Backed by an enthusiastic live audience, "Full House" remains one of Montgomery's most accessible and infectious recordings.
This reissue of the album is released as part of the Original Jazz Classics Series on 180g vinyl, pressed at RTI, with fully analog mastering from the original tapes at Cohearent Audio and a tip-on sleeve that faithfully recreates the original artwork.
