Lyapunov's "Rêverie du soir" in B minor opens the journey. Scriabin's "Fantaisie", also in B minor, ends in the light of B major. From dusk to dawn, each piece follows the next in a flow that is obvious to the ear. The last notes of Vasks' "Music for a Summer Evening" are the same as the first of Lourié's "Berceuse". The last fragile prelude in G sharp minor anticipates the key of Scriabin's Sonata-Fantaisie. From evening to dawn: Milestones of music history and little-known gems come together to tell the same dreamlike story of a luminous night.
