The Mozart Complete Edition, which was first released in 2006 to mark the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), was a milestone in the history of recorded music: never before had a complete recording of a composer sold so many copies, never before had such an edition attracted so much interest from a wide range of listeners. Mozart's music evidently continues to exert an incomparable fascination. This edition of the "Mozart Complete Edition" retains the successful formula of the previous editions and combines top-class traditional interpretations, for example by the Philharmonia Orchestra under Paul Freeman, the Staatskapelle Dresden under Herbert Blomstedt or Otmar Suitner or the pianist Klára Würtz, with historically informed performances by recognized experts such as the Mozart Academy Amsterdam under Jaap Ter Linden, the Musica ad Rhenum under Jed Wentz, La Petite Bande under Sigiswald Kuijken and the fortepianist Bart van Oort. Most of the recordings in this box were made as digital recordings between the 1980s and 2013 for renowned labels such as Accent, Berlin Classics and Capriccio or as high-quality in-house productions.
