New ways
Christina Pluhar and her ensemble L'Arpeggiata have broken new ground in the rediscovery and interpretation of Baroque music, especially Italian music. The five recording projects they have made for ALPHA CLASSICS are among the greatest successes ever in this repertoire. Especially the now legendary album La Tarantella enjoys unbroken enthusiasm among audiences and has established the ensemble's reputation. In this box L'Arpeggiata offers an anthology of sacred and secular music, dances and improvisations.
Reviews
"This ravishing recording succeeds in restoring to the 'Rappresentatione' what it has lacked in the 20th century: soul and body." (FonoForum / Recommendation of the Month)
"It almost seems as if Cavalieri was just waiting to be kissed awake by Christina Pluhar and her ensemble." (BR Klassik)
"Christina Pluhar proves here once again with her ensemble her special flair for bridging the temporal distance to 400-year-old music (by Cavalieri) and not allowing an emotional distance to arise in the first place." (Concerto)
