This is a glorious performance, which captures the "old school" approach to this majestic work.Maestro Mehta adopts measured rhythms, his interpretation is soft and lyrical when supporting Eve and the angel Gabriel, and expansive and dramatic when the Choir glorifies the creation.Even though Haydn's music is not a regular feature of the IPO's concerts, this performance under Mehta’s baton is faithful to the spirit of the work. The Choeur de l'Orchestre de Paris is superb, and the soloists – each of whom is an international super-star – have been caught on record performing at their very best.
