Third part of the complete recording of Monteverdi's madrigals
Claudio Monteverdi's eight madrigal books symbolize the transition from the strict polyphony of the Renaissance to the expanded harmonic possibilities of the "nuova pratica" in the Baroque era. The Dutch vocal ensemble Le Nuove Musiche under its musical director and harpsichordist Krijn Koetsveld continues its complete recording project with the third and fourth madrigal books (from 1592 and 1603). With great sensitivity, they unfold the hidden emotions. For example, the lament "O come e gran mortire" about the grief of a lover will leave no listener cold.
