Camille Seghers, Alexis Thibaut de Maisières
Louis Vierne is best known as a brilliant organist and as a composer for the organ. But among his 70 or so compositions there is also chamber music, such as a string quartet, a piano quintet and many more. Cellist Camille Seghers and pianist Alexis Thibaut de Maisières present the three works for their two instruments. Vierne's early pieces show influences of Franck and Fauré, later ones point to Debussy and Ravel. Yet the influence was not one-sided. Elements from Vierne's Cello Sonata can be found in Ravel and also in Fauré.
