6 Sonatinas for violin and guitar M.S. 124-129
World Premiere Recording
Between 1822 and 1824, Paganini frequently visited the Sivori family in Genoa, and taught the violin to young Camillo (1815-1894) who, in the second half of the 19th century, would become internationally known as Paganini’s pupil.
Paganini wrote several didactic compositions for his young student, some of which have recently resurfaced. The present world première recording features seven of the works rediscovered in 1996 in the Sivori Archive - Six Sonatine for violin and guitar MS124/129, and the Sonata with variations for violin, viola, cello and guitar MS132 - all works that cast a new light onto Paganini’s teaching methods.
