The music Hertel was asked to compose for the birthday of his employer, Duke Adolph Friedrich of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, was to be festive. The composer complied with this request: No less than three trumpets and a set of timpani provide opulent sound, which puts the sovereignty of the duke and this multi-channel (SA) CD new recording in the desired light.
