Violinist Joseph Szigeti belongs to those particularly outstanding players to be found in thehistory of violin playing and during the 1930s he was a top international star. This compilationfeatures recordings made between 1934 and 1954 and is just part of a broad repertoire thatboasted works written by composers from Bach, Mozart and Beethoven over Brahms up tocompositions written by the leading composers of the classical modern age; Stravinsky, Bartók,Prokofiev and Bloch were all contemporaries who enjoyed a particularly intense relationship with Szigeti.Prokofiev admired him beyond all measure and dedicated his first violin concerto to the Hungarian artist ? Bloch also dedicated his violin concerto to Szigeti and put the premiereperformance in the Hungarian's sensitive hands.
