This first recording of lieder by soprano Sarah Traubel, with pianist Helmut Deutsch, is no less than a declaration of love for the genre.

Four of Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder and the Four Last Songs by Richard Strauss are showcased here, and pieces by Franz Liszt and the lesser-known Korngold ideally complete a fine panorama of postromantic lieder dating from the turn of the Twentieth Century, with the intimacy of which Sarah Traubel - here in excellent company - proves to be perfectly in her element.
