Ginette Neveu, violin
Orchestre National de France
Roger Desormière, conductor
The Ginette Neveu discographic testament is quite modest: she started recording in Berlin in 1938 followed by a second session the following year. After a several years silence due to the war, she started recording again in 1946, but this time in London. Unfortunately, her early death on 28 October 1949 put an end to the project of recording the Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and Walton concerti, the Brahms sonatas for violin and piano with Edwin Fischer, Poulenc’s Violin Sonata and the Elizalde Concerto that she premiered in February 1944. Chance had it that a certain number of live recordings have survived, mainly in European radios.New mastering
