The American conductor Marin Alsop, an advocate of Michael Daugherty's music for more than 20 years, begins her tour on Route 66, "Main Street America", as Daugherty calls this nostalgic drive from Illinois to California.
On the way, we stop at Ghost Ranch, where Georgia O'Keeffe created her brilliant paintings inspired by the vast landscape of New Mexico. Once in Los Angeles, Daugherty takes us on a melodic detour to the Sunset Strip, where almost anything can happen, and usually does. Finally, we dive into the fourth dimension with the Time Machine and experience a wild sound exploration for three conductors and orchestra.
