The ensemble Les Monts du Reuil operates at the intersection of music, poetry and theater and specializes in forgotten treasures of French opera. All the titles of this recording are based on works by Jean de La Fontaine, famous for his fables. The comic operas "Le Magnifique" (The Magnificent Freygebige) by André Grétry and "L'Éclipse totale" (The Total Eclipse) by Nicolas Dalayrac are heard in excerpts. In addition, there are seven arias by Clérambault, directly inspired by the well-known fables, such as "The Raven and the Fox" or "The Wolf and the Lamb".
