It is pointless to say anything about Mozart's famous Requiem - the masterpiece has already been described and analyzed all too often. Almost everyone in the world is familiar with all or most of it, or at least with the title. Almost everyone can remember an experience of the music, be it what breathes new life into this work and this music time and again are congenial performances by outstanding ensembles. A truly great moment in the performance history of the Requiem was Mariss Janson's Interpretation in May 2017, which was enthusiastically received by the Munich concert audience and acclaimed by the specialist press. Under Jansons' direction, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra's choir and orchestra brought out their best; and an excellent quartet of soloists rounded off the outstanding cast and made the performances even better quartet of soloists completed the outstanding line-up and made the performances of Mozart's Requiem in the popular completion by his pupil Süßmayr an experience of lasting memory. The live recording from the Herkulessaal of the Munich Residenz was made on May 11 and 12, 2017.
