Sebastian Berner is one of the most outstanding trumpet players of his generation: in 2022, he won first prize at the International Maurice André Competition in Paris and is principal trumpet of the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. While Henri Tomasi's Trumpet Concerto from 1948 is quite well known, the Concertino for Trumpet and Orchestra by the Belgian Joseph Jongen from 1913 is much less frequently heard, and the concerto by his pupil Léon Stekke from July 1937 is recorded here for the first time. Another world premiere is Charles Koechlin's Les Chants de Kervéléan, which was transcribed for trumpet and orchestra by Robert Orlidge in 2008. Finally, Florent Schmitt's Suite in three parts was premiered by Maurice André in its orchestral version in 1956.
