French gamba player Salomé Gasselin attended church services during the lockdown so she could at least hear live organ music. A piece by Henry du Mont caught her attention
The title read: "Allemande for organ or harpsichord and three viols, if desired". Should there possibly be more French works for viol consort than one thought, and as one knew it especially from the English neighbors? With "Récit," her debut album, Gasselin and her small ensemble explore viol repertoire hidden in organ and harpsichord music from the time of Louis XIV.
