For her fourth recital with Alpha Classics, mezzo-soprano Kate Lindsey has chosen two cycles in which women are the protagonists: Schumann's well-known "Frauenliebe und Leben" and Fauré's "La Chanson d'Ève", which is much less well-known. "Both works are about innocence, discovery, joy, sorrow and ultimately a deeper understanding of life that only experience can bring," says Kate Lindsey, who has given this new album the name Samsara, a Sanskrit word that recalls the cycle of life from birth to death. Éric Le Sage, a great specialist in the music of Fauré and Schumann, is the ideal partner for this introspective journey, which also includes excerpts from Schumann's magnificent "Myrthen" as well as Fauré's famous "Clair de lune" and "Chanson d'amour".
