Pomponio Nenna was born in Bari in 1556 and studied there with Stefano Felis. He then moved to Naples, where he began his career as a composer in a stimulating spirit of competition; Nenna and Carlo Gesualdo influenced each other's madrigal style, particularly in their treatment of text, dissonance and chromatic modulation. Nenna's vocal works are complemented here by a series of organ pieces by local composers such as Giovanni Maria Trabaci and Giovanni de Macque, transcribed for a viol consort.
+Giovanni de Macque: Canzona IV alla francese; Capriccio sopra Re Fa Mi Sol; Consonanze stravaganti; Intrata d'organo+Giovanni Maria Trabaci: Ottavo tono con tre fughe
