Conductor, composer, pianist, music critic, promoter - Leonard Bernstein was an incredibly versatile, active musician, who had the necessary charisma to inspire his listeners again and again. As a conductor he was able, although by nature very extroverted and inclined to exuberant emotion, to work very subtly analytically, as can also be seen from these recordings, made in 1946 (Ravel) and 1957 (Schubert) respectively.
