These milestone recordings were made from 1950 to 1959 and feature works by Bach, Brahms, Paganini, Khachaturian, Prokofiev, Mozart, Lalo and others. It includes high-profile chamber music recordings with Mstislav Rostropovich and Emil Gilels, as well as orchestral works conducted by Kondrashin, Mitropoulos, Silvestri, Monteux, Ackermann et al.
The orchestras featured include the Philharmonia Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic and Orchestre de la Société des Concerts du Conservatoire.
