Following the release of the complete set of Ennio Morricone's Cinema Suites for violin and orchestra on two albums (Cinema Suites, jpc 10793633, and Cinema Rarities, jpc 11575974), Marco Serino now presents world premiere recordings of works for violin and piano arranged by Morricone himself. He is joined by pianist Leandro Piccioni, who - like Marco - can look back on over twenty years of close collaboration with Morricone in the composer's favorite orchestra, the Roma Sinfonietta. These original arrangements, all taken from famous film scores, form the starting point for an original anthology in which the two musicians explore the wider repertoire associated with cinema. Cinema Memories ranges from works that have since become classics, such as "Three Pieces from Schindler's List" by John Williams to "West Side Story Suite" by Leonard Bernstein, as well as "Melody in A minor" by Myroslav Skoryk, which has since become a kind of national anthem for the Ukrainian people. A program that interweaves memory and imagination, melancholy and lightness, dream and reality.
