Although it is performed regularly, little is known about Handel's Dixit Dominus. The 22-year-old's work was composed during his trip to Italy and was probably performed for the first time in Rome. It reflects the composer's attitude at the time with impressive virtuosity: fiery, bold and sensitive. With Les Argonautes and an outstanding ensemble of soloists, Jonas Descotte has chosen a small ensemble that provides a fresh, dramatic, precise and agile reading. A Dixit Dominus by Antonio Lotti as well as his Crucifixus à 5 and his Miserere mei frame the famous Handel work.
