in 1786, Haydn composed "The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross" for orchestra. Ten years later, he wrote a poignant version of it with the addition of vocal parts. Justin Doyle, the RIAS Kammerchor Berlin and the Konzerthausorchester Berlin are rediscovering this version. Together with four exceptional soloists, they reveal the full dramatic power of the work, its expressiveness and liturgical fervor.
