With the twelve-year-old Gioachino Rossini's "Sonate a Quattro" nos.3 and 6 the complete cycle of these pieces isnow available on harmonia mundi. Also included here are three rare jewels of chamber music by the maturecomposer: the Serenata (1823), the Duo for cello and double bass (1824), and the "Una lagrima" Variations for celloand piano. The latter piece shows that even in old age he was incapable of renouncing his theatrical wit, hismagnificent cantilenas, and above all his "opera buffa" style.This title was released for the first time in 2004.
