This opera semiseria, which makes use of the usual content patterns of this genre (innocent victim of an intrigue, preferably from the lower classes, is rescued shortly before the execution of the sentence by a young hero, mainly from the aristocracy, and the real perpetrator is punished), was recorded in high definition at the Rossini Opera Festival. The performance follows the critical edition and thus guarantees the use of the original text. At the same time, the production surprises with its modern stage design. Incidentally, Stanley Kubrick used the work's brilliant overture in one of the battle scenes of "Clockwork Orange".
