Shirley Brill a marvellous young clarinettist. She has won prizes at several international competitions, and has
performed worldwide with artists such as Daniel Barenboim, Emmanuel Pahud, Sabine Meyer, and the Borromeo and
Jerusalem String Quartets. Her first recording for Aparté – also her first with an orchestra – presents a programme of
fine but rarely recorded works, showing her desire to leave the beaten track. Its release in France is intended to
coincide with the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Jean Françaix (1912-1997), a neo-Classical composer known
in particular for his music written for the films of his close friend Sacha Guitry. A breath of fresh air!
