Marching music is on the rise. We owe this to a musical diversity that extends to the most diverse areas of social life. The march has long since emancipated itself from its main function as military music. Outstanding examples of the individual forms can be found on the following four CDs.
In addition to famous historical titles such as the "Radetzky March" and the "Grand Tattoo", there are many variations of a musical style to be discovered that have often been overlooked until now.
Marching music has a great symbolic significance with regard to various rituals, but it also has a certain lightness, sometimes even an astonishing dose of humor.
This is especially true of the popular marches, whose humorous titles reveal their light-hearted intentions: In addition to the "Hazelnut March" and the "Chamois Mountain March", there is even a "Pig March".
