Almost 10 years ago, Romanian soprano Angela Gheorghiu rose to international fame almost overnight: her sensational performance in Verdi's La Traviata at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden under Sir Georg Solti was the prelude to engagements on all the world's great stages. This Best of album brings together all her characteristic roles: Adina in Donizetti's L'elisir D'amore, together with her husband - tenor Roberto Alagna, Mimi in Puccini's La Boheme, some of her great French roles and of course Violetta in Verdi's La Traviata. In addition to operatic arias and duets, she also sings excerpts from Faure's Requiem and the popular song Muzic, which she often performs as an encore.
