Josef Suk and Ariane Pfister play extremely well, with deft virtuosity and a sweet sense of lyricism that indicates they are more than up to the challenges offered by this repertoire. Led by Christian Benda, the Suk Chamber Orchestra is far more than a capable partner, providing spirited and sympathetic accompaniments in every instance. If you're looking for something interesting and off the beaten path from the pre-Classical era, you need look no further than this superbly played and well-recorded release.
