An outstanding violinist himself (he played in the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, among others), Bohuslav Martinů was very familiar with the possibilities of the violin and thus enriched the concert literature of the 20th century with numerous highly original works, which he wrote for the leading soloists of his time.
