The packaging features the original album sleeves. Ludwig Hoelscher (1907 - 1996) was one of Germany's leading cellists of the past century. This box set features Hoelscher's complete recordings for the German Telefunken label - recordings very rare and highly collectable, some available on CD for the very first time - a true treasure chest for any cello aficionado, with examples of Hoelscher's extraordinary chamber music abilities as well as great concerto literature. Among these recordings are Ludwig van Beethoven's Complete Works for Piano and Cello with Elly Ney, Cello Sonatas by Fréderic Chopin, Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, Claude Debussy and Giuseppe Valentini, the incredibly romantic recording of Antonin Dvorák's Cello Concerto op. 104 with Joseph Keilberth and a number of recital pieces, including the six gavottes from The Suites for Violoncello Solo by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1007-1012) as well as works by Gabriel Fauré, Orrotino Respighi, Francois Couperin and many other composers.
