Antoine Dard, as the first bassoonist of the Académie Royale de Musique in Paris and Grand hautbois de la Chambre etécuries du Roi in Versailles, was one of those numerous musicians who belonged to the environment of the most important musical institutions of the French monarchy. These works represent a distinctive feature not only in his personal oeuvre, but also in the literature of the 18th century in general, as well as within the specific repertoire for bassoon.
