Francesco Piemontesi, conductor Manfred Honeck and the Gewandhausorchester Leipzig can be heard together in a new recording of Johannes Brahms' Second Piano Concerto. This concerto breaks with traditional forms and combines symphonic grandeur with virtuoso brilliance and moments of intimate, chamber music dialog between piano and orchestra. Piemontesi's sensitive playing and Honeck's precise, passionate conducting create a detailed and moving interpretation of one of Brahms' greatest masterpieces. The three Intermezzi op. 117 were also recorded - quiet, contemplative pieces that provide an insight into the composer's most personal thoughts.
