In March 2026, the legendary guitarist celebrates his 75th birthday. This project brings him and some of his closest friends together for the first time in a unique sextet: Thomas Morgan on bass, Rudy Royston on drums, Jenny Scheinman on violin, Eyvind Kang on viola and Hank Roberts on cello. Together they explore the many facets of American music, including Frisell originals as well as jazz and Americana classics.
The basis of the album was recorded live at concerts in Brooklyn, Denver and New Haven in 2025. Additional sessions were held for some of the songs at Opus Studios in Berkeley, California. The result is a brilliant hybrid recording that seamlessly blends the spontaneity of a live performance with the polished sonic artistry that can only be achieved in the studio.
