The British pianist Alexander Ullman presents a program of moods, songs and lyrical pieces by Edvard Grieg. Like Chopin, Grieg also created exquisite miniatures rather than large-scale orchestral works. Both also composed piano concertos, and Grieg's example is one of the most popular in the repertoire, but it was in his smaller solo works that his poetic musical expression could fully unfold. The program also includes a selection of songs that the composer arranged for solo piano.
Stimmungen op. 73 Nr. 1-7; Peer Gynt-Suite Nr. 1 (Klaviertranskription von Alexander Ullman); Lyrische Stücke op. 71 Nr. 1-7; Lieder op. 41 (Klaviertranskriptionen)
