Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen (1932-2016) has managed to unite all factions of progressive Danish music in admiration. Following the acclaimed first volume of this new chronological cycle of the composer's complete string quartets, the Nordic String Quartet now moves on to the works that reveal the composer's musical imagination in all its unbridled joy, brilliance and eccentricity. In works spanning 27 years, including three written for the world-famous Kronos Quartet, the composer plays with form, struggles with nature and grapples with seemingly irreconcilable opposites.
