Martin Rost is an outstanding expert in the field of Northern German organ music. His “house instrument” is the organ in St. Mary’s Church in Stralsund, an organ built by Fritzsche’s son-in-law Stellwagen in 1659 and thus a masterful continuation of the Hanseatic organ tradition. The four treaders tirelessly operating the organ’s twelve wedge billows in an authentic manual operation merit special mention.
