The Schumann Quartet and pianist Hinrich Alpers dedicate themselves to three composers who could not be more different, who have different life stories - and yet have musical similarities. Frank Martin's Piano Quintet, Viktor Ullmann's No. 3 (composed in Theresienstadt) and Gabriel Fauré's Piano Quintet No. 3 represent the development of musical language in the transition from the 20th to the 21st century.
